Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu ....

PLOT REVEALED !!!

A close cousin of Chak De and Laagan ... but as far as I am concerned a far better version ... reality to the fullest ... It portrays the rise of a low on luck Kabbadi team and its RISE to glory ... simple and straight forward ... with seemingly effortless comedy flowing right through the movie. The romance between Marimuthu (the sort of hero) and the nameless ponnu IS NOTHING but reality... the boy meets girl in THIRUVIZHA incident followed by the stalking and the mild stolen glances and smiles ... the promise to meet next thiruvizha ... the separation making everything so much more sweeter ...

The simple vengeance of a disgraced player that eventually changes into pride for a fellow player... the falling apart of a friendship because of an better opportunity and so on and so forth ... I can go on and on about all the great things about the movie ... But I am going to STOP here!

So until the very very end EVERYTHING was PERFECT ...the END WAS A DISASTER ...of course the regular person in me thought it was pretty interesting and shocking ending was OKAY with it BUT of course the eternal optimist in me COMPLETELY hated the ending... WHY OH WHY ??? DO you Kill of the sort of hero for NO apparent reason expect for the shock value cos there is NO other reason to have finished him off like that ... really really --- a Perfectly healthy young man JUST collapses and dies just as he wins the game for his team... WHY ??? DON'T ask me ... MR. DIRECTOR what was the point ????

People like Bala, Ameer and of late Sasikumar of Subramaniyapuram have made it "COOL" to bump off the lead actors ... why??? Why else ???

I suppose DEATH is a far better option then to live thru this life that is HELL .... atleast with the rest i can justify the killings BUT not with Vennila ... why ... cos you fall in love with the demure , but at the same time strong-willed, SMART , poor, thoughtful , lovable MARI .... so to feel his death is to be real miserable ... and thats how I felt ... I could have even taken him not marrying the nameless girl BUT to finish him off like that ... I simply cannot take it ... I am transported back to another time ... when i watched MAYA aka Jyothika get bumped off in KHAKA KHAKA ... an feel precisely the same way now...
Victory Doesn't MATTER ... if you don't have the "right" people to share it with !!!

Overall i loved the movies to BITS but STRONGLY feel that the end was by NO means JUSTIFIABLE.

Each and every actor was SUPER starting from the tea kadai person's Mother-in-Law to even the baddies ... simply SUPERB ...

BUT special shout out to KISHORE ... "YOU DA MAN!!!"
