Movie Paradiso ...

The last 9 months has been a roller coaster of sorts ... there was never a single moment to stop and think and analyze ... which was good , but now its time to pause and observe i suppose ... that's for another post ..this below is a longish ode to the last 8 months and the movies that were part of that time period!

Living with another person almost a stranger is a challenge especially when u spend every moment with them ...  i mean same house , same workplace same friends this could kill you , but if it doesnt just makes you stronger...:)

Living with ritz was a pleasure ... we had nothing but good times , even the bad were made into good times !!!
As much as a movie buff that i am she isn't one but we made the best of it ....

Like always i managed to watch most of the movies that came out from April to November ... Hindi and English mostly in theaters and of course thamizh padams on dear lappy ... so here goes the list with a few comments and my stars out of 5!!! This is only the english list , the Hindi and Tamil ones are to follow!

Resident Evil : Afterlife (3D) - Amit who was viisting from India really wanted to watch a 3D movie , so we had a choice between this one and the Owl movie ... i made him opt for this one (hehehe) -- nothing much to say same old blood and gore and killing of zombies ... even the 3D effect was not that great ... STARS : 1/2  a star.

Iron Man 2 : I watched this in the IMAX theater in Universal studios in Orlando ... so the overall experience was good ! As in the movie it was a decent summer blockbuster .... good effects and real good acting ... STARS: 3

Predators : I would like to start out to say that choosing to watch this movie was a big mistake and the bigger mistake was to sit next to someone that constantly talks in movies ... especially when they ask questions such as " why are they not in earth ...  i mean why ?" and when you really want to say "How the F*** would i know ?" Its a non story about humans and Predators being thrown in together and who ever survives wins ... what do they win ... no one knows !!! I went to see it for Adrien Brody !!! the concept of him as a action hero really attracted me ... but it will no longer do so :((
STARS: 1.5

Nightmare on Elm Street: If you have ever seen any one of these movies ... you know what its all about ... but this time a little bit of background for the bad guy !!!! Kids accuse him that he is a molestar and thats the reason he comes back to haunt them ... and you start feeling sorry for the guy .... but ends up being the truth and that the kids didnt lie .. so what was the point of the background i have no clue !!!!
Stars : 1 Star!
Eclipse : Part three of the Twilight Saga ... I have read the books so really was looking forward to watching it !!! I really think the film makers did a good job of bringing the main concepts into the big screen .... I am TEAM EDWARD .... and i cannot stand Jacob !
Stars: 3.5!!!

Inception: Watched it twice ... if you haven't seen it till now ... then i say go watch it !!! If nothing else it at least reflects the amazing concept of  what someone can think up!!!
Stars: I give it 6 out 5 !!!!

Karate Kid : Watched it in Minneapolis,MN in the MALL OF AMERICA all by myself ! Jackie Chan and the Little Mr. Smith rocked !!! Same old story tho ... so points for acting nothing else !
Stars: 1.5.

Prince of Persia :  Although it is inspired by a video game the overall story ,action and acting were A+ it was non-stop action and adventure and it stayed true to its video game origins and JAKE Gyllenhaal is definitely super hot !
Stars:5 .

Robin Hood: Of all the versions that were made this one was realistic and made well ... stuck to the original ... after princes of thieves with Kevin Costner ... this on was way better ... the heroine had equal importance too ...
Stars: 4.5 !

Shrek forever 3D : It was good ... a didnt really have to watched the previous 3 ... 3D effects were done well ... nothing special nothing not special !!
Stars: 3.

Sex and the City 2 : Lacked its usual Magic that was present in the series and the first movie !!! The first wedding bit was awesome ...nothing else was !
Star: 1/2 a star!

Splice: OMFreaking GOD ... i haven't seen a more atrocious movie about some alien species that is made in a lab ... and the most disgusting part of it all the creature has sex with guy then changes its sex and has sex with the girl also ... LIKE OMG !!!! hated it !!!!
Star: MINUS 5 !

Sorcerers Apprentice : Teen flick about the reluctant hero who accepts his responsibility... decent entertainer!!
Star: 2 Stars.

Salt: If you are Jolie fan like me ... then u will love the movie ! Its an espionage story about America and Russia ... she rocked !!! I believe the role was initially offered to mr.Cruise and he refused and did knight and day instead !!! Big Mistake i say ...
Star: 4 Stars !

Paranormal Activity 2: Its a prequel and a sequel to the original ... same camera work and such ... but it involved a baby and it was scary .. we watched it in an open air theater and it rocked !!! i mean the volume is in your car so every scream every pin drop is heard !!!

Killers: Pop corn romance about CIA agent who is undercover ... ok ok movie !!! Kathryn Heigl saved it for what it was worth!
Stars: 1 !
Devil : Decent horror + Thriller ... keeps you guessing till the end about who could be the devil ... creatively made ... 5 people trapped in an elevator ... no one in or out but people are dying !!!
Star:2.5 stars!


Megamind: Yet another 3D animation flick .... it was good funny ... a villain turning into a good guy for the girl !!! Nicely done ! 
Star: 3

Town: A Boston based bank heist story intertwined with romance , friendship and loyalty ... great performances and gripping throughout !
Star: 4

Last Exorcism: Under rated yet good movie of this year ... the camera work takes you back to the days of Blair Witch Project ... but the content is good ... had some amazing thrills and jerks in places that you least expected ... the movie is shot as an documentary of a Preacher that "cures" people of their possession ... the interviewer and the cameraman make an wonderful addition to the cast !
Star: 4.5

The Expendables and the A team :  Similar story lines with a different group of guys with guns !!!! The A team was a wee bit better then the Expendables ... i must say Rambo anna has definitely hit old-age !

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World : Was a wonderful movie about a love for a girl who has 7 exes and the new BF needs to fight them all off in order to be with her ... a metaphor of sorts i believe... was made here in the TO so was wonderful to watch it in Florida when i was missing home ... well made !

Despicable Me :  You have to watch this for the light minions !!! Each and every one of them were uniquely different... the girls everyone ... great one too !!!

Date Night: Real hilarious ROM COM with Tina Fey and Steve Carell ... about a middle aged couple thats losing its spark in the marriage ... and how one night changes everything !!! Laughed non-stop!

Let me in : The Next generation of Vampire movies i suppose ... told in a very mild and timid manner .... felt like "what if ..." vampires lived amongst us as a little innocent girl kinda thought process ... well taken and well acted !

Case 39 : Nothing much to say pop corn horror movie ... only cool part was ... me and Amit watched it at home ... I "borrowed " the projector from work and played it on our wall at home ... with bose speakers ... it was way better then watching at the movie theater ... You dont have the luxury in the theater to lie done and watch anything or bury your face in your favorite blanket !!! we started watching at 12:30 and finished at 3 ... I will never forget all the scary things Amit kept doing the whole time we watched it !
Star: 1/2 a star!

Life as we know it : If you have seen the trailer you can use your imagination and fill in the gaps if there were any gaps in the trailer ... enuff said ... only good thing was watched it in the drive - in while eating Peas Pulav and Chicken Curry along with some good old Sam Adams !!! *sigh*

That's the Grand total in Florida !!

Watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows ... what can i say ... cannot wait for the 2nd part !!!

Still have to watch : Tangled, the Tourist , and The Social Network to sum up the year !!!
